101 Things in 1001 Days

My Movies Top 50

Have you ever tried making a list of the top 50 movies you think are the best? I did one today, but I’m not 100% sure it’s correct. I keep forgetting some really good movies and just as I’m hitting Publish I remember another really good one that is not on the list.

Why do such a list in the first place you might ask. Well, I did this list of 101 things to do in 1001 days and I was fool enough to think making such a list would be easy and fun.

If I thought thinking of all the movies I’ve seen was hard, it turned out that deciding the best one ever was even harder. I’m not saying the number one on the list below is the best one ever, but it sure could be, and maybe it actually is.

Even harder than picking the number one was to decide the order of the rest. They are not necessarily in exact order. They might not even be the 50 movies I think are the best. There are a lot of movies I have never seen that I already think might be better then some of the ones that are on the list.

From now on I’ll make sure to list and rate every single movie I see for the rest of my life. That way I can just refer to that list. Thanks to this list I wrote “Argo” down first, so it stuck.

This is my Top 50 best movies so far:

I’m so confused over the list that I can’t even think of suitable pictures for this post, I like pictures on my posts… and just realised I probably wanted more movies on the list. Why can’t a top 50 list have like a 100 things on it… and now I’m just rambling here…

Well, did you agree with any of the movies on my list? Which movies would make yours?

With warm hugs and gentle thuds – Keri

  1. I agree with a lot of the movies on your list (the ones I’ve seen anyway), including Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Love Actually, Toy Story 3 etc. The one I was surprised at was Madagascar. That one probably wouldn’t have made my top 50.

    1. I never get tired of watching Madagascar! It’s something we watch together with the husband when we want to watch something easy and fun, but we’re not quite sure what we want to watch. 🙂

  2. I tried to post this earlier but for some reason didn’t succeed. But anyways, you should register yourself to IMDb and you would always be aware of the films you watch. 🙂 Like me, I’ve done that for years already. So, making my list is not that hard at all. I think. 😀

    Let’s see…

    1.Fight Club
    2.Brokeback Mountain
    3.Gone With the Wind
    4.Clockwork Orange
    5.Lotr 1
    6.Lotr 3
    7.Lotr 2
    9.The Dark Knight
    10.The Notebook
    11.Lost in Translation
    13.Donnie Darko
    14.Amores Perros
18.Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back
    19.Schindler’s List
    20.Love Actually
    21.How to Train Your Dragon
    22.It’s a Wonderful Life
    23.Some Like It Hot
    24.Miesten Vuoro
    25.The Usual Suspects
    26.In America
    27.Moulin Rouge!
    28.The Lion King
    29.Walk the Line
    30.Rear Window
    31.The Others

Those were the ones I’ve given 5/5 (or 10/10 in IMDb).
    Rest of the list:

    33.The Wizard of Oz
    34.Star Wars
    35.Midnight in Paris
    36.Mystic River
37.One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
    38.Forrest Gump
    39.The Matrix
    40.The Descendants
    42.The Pianist
    44.The Avengers
    46.The Social Network
    47.Pride & Prejudice
48.Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi
    49.Wonder Boys

It seems that we have 17/50. Btw, it was harder than I thought but it was great to be reminded how many great movies there are.

    1. There’s 19 movies on that list that I haven’t seen. I guess I better start watching… 😀
And I did register to IMDB already. I think I did it right after the Oscars and I’ve now listed all the movies I’ve seen this year. 🙂

      1. Wow, 19! Good for you. Because all of those films that I listed are absolutely great! Though some are the ones that I don’t necessarily want to watch again. At least not that many times.
