Today is one of those days when I have again struggled to think of something interesting to write about. As I was reading all the blogs I follow and subscribe to, seeking inspiration, I found exactly what I was looking for.
The sisters, Chelsea and Alexa, challenge each other to write something every other week. They are both good writers and I really enjoy reading their blog, Daring Discourse. I was inspired by their challenge number 56, so I thought it would probaböy be OK if I borrowed it a little.
Challenge 56: I’d like you to delve into your music library and find 4 songs that have a profound affect on your emotions – and I mean an intense affect. Such as, the ability to completely silence you or reduce you to tears. After you list the songs (with a quick description for each) I’d like you to pick one of those songs and tell us about one of those moments. It can be an experience with that specific song, or perhaps the memory or thought you have attached to it that affects you so.
I’m a very emotional person and I cry pretty easily. Music usually serves as the perfect trigger to make bawl my eyes out. These four songs I have some sort of emotional tie to:
- Can’t help falling in love by Elvis – I listened to this song a lot while planning my wedding. I love my husband more and more, every time I hear this song.
- Missä muruseni on by Jenni Vartiainen – Jenni is a Finnish singer and if you don’t speak Finnish you just have to trust me when I say that the lyrics to this son are beautiful. Basically the song is about a girl singing to her loved one who’s not there and she asks the wind to carry her love to where ever her loved one might be.
- The climb by Miley Curys – There’s always gonna be another mountain. I’m always gonna wanna make it move. Always gonna be a uphill battle. Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose. Sometimes life is hard, but it’ll get better and easier at times. Just keep on climbing and your dreams might come true.
- Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley – It’s just a beautiful song and it makes me cry.
A good friend of mine lost her husband quite suddenly and unexpectedly almost a year ago. It was a shock for everyone who knew him and my heart goes out to my friend every time I hear the song by Jenni Vartiainen. It’s not necessarily about a love that was lost so permanently but to me it is.
I’ve never cried this hard while writing a post.
With warm hugs and gentle thuds – Keri
