This is a huge advantage for those who can’t remember all the complicated passwords to all the services around the Internet. The Googlers are currently experimenting with YubiKey, a tiny USB stick that implements highly secure “one time pad” cryptography to log in to Google services, as a replacement for passwords. In the future, they want similar authentication technology to work wirelessly and across all of a person’s online accounts. READ MORE!

Man finds mammoth £200,000 gold nugget in Australia:

An amateur prospector found a 5,5kg (177 ounces) Y-shaped gold nugget near the town of Ballard in Victoria. The prospector, who has not been named, was using a top-of-the-line handheld metal detector when he found the nugget. READ MORE!

Four climbers killed by an avalanche:

Two men and two women, all in their 20s, died after being caught in an avalanche and falling 1,000ft (304,8m). They were buried under about 7ft (2,13m) of snow. A fifth man is believed to have escaped falling to his death by jumping to firmer ground and clinging to an ice axe embedded in the snow. The climbers, all from different parts of the UK, were attempting to descend from a peak on the south side of the valley on Bidean Nam Bian, a mountain near Glencoe. READ MORE!
