Horror films burn the calories:

Watching horror movies can help you lose weight as long as your movie-snacks are healthy. In a study commissioned by website LOVEFiLM.com, researchers from the University of Westminster in the UK had subjects watch a variety of horror films while taking measurements of their heart rate, oxygen intake, carbon dioxide output and calories burned.

Hurricane Sandy hits New York and snow covers the fields in Southern England:

It has been a rough week weather-wise. Earlier this week hurricane Sandy hit the east-coast of the U.S causing metro stations to fill with water and forcing people to leave their homes in New York. And later this week unusual amount of snow came down in Southern England as heavy rain set off flood warning across the country.

Finnish actress Pihla Viitala lands a major television role:

Finnish actress, Pihla Viitala, will have a role in a new US television series L.A. Noir. It is really rare that a Finnish actress gets cast in a major role in an American television series, but Viitala is not willing to discuss the content of the series.

World’s most prosperous country in 2012 is…:

Well, it isn’t the United States. In fact United States aren’t even on top ten according to a new study by the Legatum Institute. The Legatum Institute published its first Prosperity Index six years ago, ranking countries based on material wealth and personal well-being. The 2012 index analyzed 142 countries in eight categories: economy, education, entrepreneurship & opportunity, governance, health, personal freedom, safety & security and social capital.

A Finnish blogger is about to make a huge commitment:

A Finnish blogger, Kerilady, is about to start a daily blog. According to her she really enjoys blogging and she figured she would like to do it every day. She has no idea how long she’ll commit to a daily blog, but she’s aiming to go for a year. Wish her luck!
